Detox That Liver! 3 Recipes to Get You Started

Spring is a great time to start thinking about detoxification. Just as we spring clean our homes, a good liver detox can clear our bodies of harmful toxins that may be stored there from a more sedentary, indulgent winter.

Earlier this week I talked about how important supplements are when it comes to detoxing the liver. There are also tons of amazing whole foods ways to detox. Together, supplements and whole foods can boost your energy and clear the toxins your liver may be holding onto.

Below are three liver detox recipe ideas from my new favourite website, Young & Raw. I’d recommend incorporating one of these options (or something store-bought with similar ingredients) into your diet every day for a week or more to see the detoxifying benefits.

 

Liver Boosting Beet Juice

Ingredients

  • 1 beet
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 lemon, peeled
  • 1 handful parsley

Directions

Run all ingredients through a juicer and enjoy.

 

Deep Green Liver Detox

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 2 cups kale
  • 1 lime, peeled
  • 1 cup swiss chard
  • 1/2 lemon, peeled

Directions

Run all ingredients through a juicer and enjoy.

 

Liver Detox Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 1/2 rib celery
  • 1 lemon, peeled
  • 1/2 cup dandelion greens (or other bitter green)
  • 1/2 cup parsley

Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Enjoy!
