A Day of Detox: Your 10 am Smoothie

Image: Julie Daniluk This week I'm sharing my favorite recipes from Julie Daniluk's and Joyous Health's new detox programs, and arranging them up into one day of good, clean, healthy detoxing.

Today we'll talk about a 10 am snack that'll keep you brain engaged and your stress low as you work through your morning.

Blueberries have awesome anti-oxidant properties, cinnamon is anti-inflammatory, and the hemp heart protein helps all the nutrients absorb.

Wild Blueberry Stress-Buster Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups wild blueberries, fresh or thawed
  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened, non-diary ‘milk’ such as my coconut beverage
  • 1/4 cup hemp hearts
  • 1-2 tbsp honey
  • dash cinnamon or nutmeg

Optional

  • 4 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tsp sunflower lecithin
  • 1 tbsp goji berries, soaked

Directions

Blend all ingredients including lecithin and goji berries until smooth.

Pour into 2 glasses and season with a dash of spice.

Add mint leaves for decoration if desired and serve immediately.

Makes 3 cups.
