Make Your Own Fermented Veggies
Probiotics (our good bacteria that reside in our gut) have to be a mainstay supplement for my patients. Let’s face it: a healthy gut definitely plays a major role in the overall health of our body.
I have recently been recommending that my patients acquire these good bacteria through food as well as supplementation – specifically from fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kimchee or kefir. These delicious fermented treats are loaded with healthy bacteria that aid in overall gut health, but buying them in the store can get a little pricey. I recently came across this excellent blog from Daily Bites on how you can ferment your own veggies, as a way to ensure you're eating healthy ingredients, and adhering to your grocery budget.
